About me

Laia López is a Spanish soprano based in the Netherlands. She recently completed her Master’s degree at the HKU Conservatory in Utrecht under Selma Harknik's guidance. In 2024, she graduated cum laude from her Bachelor’s program at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where she studied with Hanneke de Wit and Paul Triepels. During her studies, she had a lesson with Diana Damrau and masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Paul McNamara, Maarten Koningsberger, Nico van der Meel, Iris van Wijnen, Ofèlia Sala, and Jordi Domènech.

 

As a soloist, she has performed at events such as the Aurora Festival 2025 and 2024, the Grachtenfestival, Opera aan Zee and Zomer Opera in Zutphen. Her operatic roles include Suor Dolcina in Puccini's Suor Angelica, Belinda and Second Woman in Purcell's Dido & Aeneas, Pamina and Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Vrouw 1 in Ammerlaan’s Onstaan in grote nood. Additionally, as a member of Young Baroque Voices, she performed in Dido & Aeneas at the Dutch National Opera, a co-production with the Nederlandse Reisopera and Opera Zuid, conducted by Camille Delaforge with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and musicians of Il Caravaggio.

 

In oratorio, Laia has performed works including the Requiems of Brahms, Mozart, and Fauré, Handel's Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Haydn's Missa cellensis, Vivaldi's Gloria, Frank's Die sieben Worte Jesu am Kreuz, Andriessen's Miroir de Peine, Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri, and J.S. Bach's Johannes Passion, Magnificat, and various cantatas. She has collaborated with ensembles such as The Northern Consort, the Margaretha Consort, and the Luthers Bach Ensemble.
